Etsy Increases Seller Transaction Fee to 6.5%
Etsy focused on building a marketplace that allow sellers like you to turn your creativity and passions into a real, money-making businesses. Last year sellers increased their sales by 23% on average compared to previous years. More than 90 million active buyers worldwide are supporting small business.
Etsy reported in the financial press release to investers that its seller transaction fee is increasing from 5% to 6.5%. This fee change will go into effect on April 11, 2022. We’re planning to invest even more in making Etsy the best place to run a creative business – in fact, we expect to invest most of the incremental revenue from this fee increase in marketing, seller tools, and creating world-class customer experiences.
Etsy enables anyone with a creative idea to start a business and reach a built-in audience of more than 90 million shoppers. We have demonstrated our ability to make improvements that directly translate into more sales for our sellers, as evidenced by record sales per seller in 2021. Our new transaction fee will enable us to invest in key areas like marketing and support to further extend our strong momentum

Etsy sent sellers more insights on key areas:
- Bringing more buyers to Etsy: Last year, we spent nearly $600 million on marketing. This year we’ll be investoring even more, incuding on tv commercials, influencers, and tastemakers, billboards, podcast advertising and email marketing to that brings new buyers to Etsy
- The support you need: We’ll grow our support team by more than 20$ this year so you can get help more quickly and easily, including faster email responses, expanded access to live chat, and prioritization of your most urgent requests.
